I'm Getting Excited.

There are lots of things to be excited for this time of year. School is almost done. Perhaps a summer trip somewhere. Bike rides when the nights cool off. But mostly just the warmth that has been slow to arrive. Today it was really warm out and Spencer and I sat outside on campus and ate some lunch. I rolled my jeans up and enjoyed the heat. After I got back inside I noticed I had a small tan line from my sandals and I remembered how much I love the sandal tan lines you get on your feet in the summer. I'm getting really excited for all the fun things that the summer brings.

2br/1bath available May 1st

2br/1bath Apartment available May 1st (or perhaps even sooner) The two bedrooms are exactly equal in size and are both really big. We have just been using the second bedroom as a storage/library/ironing/study/laundry-like room. Plenty of windows in all rooms. New carpet that is nice and clean. The Manager is SUPER nice and prompt to deal with. Rent is $640 plus utilities (gas and electric) we paid approximately $15 each month -- TOTAL. It's on the 2nd floor of a 3-story apartment complex. There is a private parking spot, and laundry facility on site. It's sweet location is 6 blocks south of BYU's campus, and just 3 blocks from a grocery store (Smith's) Very friendly neighbors, and an AWESOME ward. We love it and will be sad to leave it. We're leaving for the summer for work out of state and need to sell the contract by May 1st, but could be out the last couple weeks of April if needed. We've posted this ad, or ads very similar to this on craigslist.com and ksl.com so I figured, why not post it on the blog as well-- I mean, as if any of you are looking to move into married student apartments-- but more just to let you know what we have been up to lately. We've had lots of response so I feel like we won't have a problem, its just the other 200 ads that are posted each day from other students that are moving for the summer that we have to worry about. One thing that's nice is that plenty of students get married at the end of semesters so we've showed the place to a lot of engaged couples. For all I know we have already sold the place, we haven't heard from out manager though so I guess we'll just keep on advertising till we do hear something. We actually are having a showing tonight from 5-7pm and have heard from 8 couples that are planning to attend. So hopefully tonight is the night and we will no longer have to worry about selling our contract, but mostly not worry about KEEPING IT CLEAN ALL THE TIME.

Pan! Tortillas! Pan Dulce!

These words we’re being yelled outside our window last night as we were eating dinner. (“Bread, Tortillas, Sweet Bread!”) A couple seconds later we had a knock at our door, and the man said the same thing “Pan, Tortillas, Pan Dulce” So I turned to Spencer who just kind of shrugged his shoulders. I told the man, “No thanks…” Not really knowing what offer I had just declined, and watched him through the peep-hole knock on other doors yelling the same words. After we finished our dinner (which happened to be some breakfast burritos Spencer whipped up) I curiously peeked through the blinds to see our whole complex flocking together behind a truck. I got a picture from our family room while we found some cash around the house and joined our neighbors outside. To our surprise it was like a little “Pasteleria-On-Wheels” The back of the truck was full of Mexican pastries, empanadas, breads and tortillas. Spencer put a couple in a bag while I got the courage to snap a few pictures. It was the strangest thing. Like an icecream truck for adults – minus the music. Spencer told me they’re rather common in Mexico, it’s just something you don’t see everyday in Provo. Well, maybe South Provo. The goods were pretty good and rather cheap. I guess we’ll have to keep a look out for the next time the bakery on wheels rolls by.

Who Turned Off The Heat?!

In January we managed to spend just a little over $7.00 for our gas bill, and February was even a little bit less. How you may wonder? Simple. All we really need to pay for is our hot water-- since our apartment usually is at a miraculous 70, or warmer. It’s the oddest thing. We keep the place set to 60 degrees so even though the apartment is nice and cozy warm, we’re not paying a dime for it. We figured that since we’re on the 2^nd floor, we have neighbors on all four sides so were getting our heat from them. The problem is, last week the people below us moved out and a new family moved in. Apparently they’re trying to skimp on utilities as well because our apartment is now usually around 64! (This really isn’t that bad, but we’ve been use to the warm temperature for a while now) Well it’s finally approaching spring weather (optimistically) so hopefully we can bear the next few weeks with a little cooler of home. Perhaps we should just invest in one of these. I laugh so hard when I see the "Snuggie" commercial. It's a blanket with sleeves. I love how they make the blanket look like such a hassle- hahahaha. I feel like something similar to this has already been invented, a house coat maybe?

992 Piece Puzzle

I’ve been a little under the weather lately so Spencer and I have spent most of our spare time (When Spencer's not studying for the LSAT) just lounging around and taking it easy. We decided to start on a random 1000 piece puzzle which we found in his parents basement. The 1000 piece puzzle turned into a rather frustrating 992 piece puzzle when we realized we were 8 pieces short. It's surprisingly more difficult to do a 992 piece puzzle than a 1000 piece puzzle because you spend all your time looking for pieces that don't actually exist.
Here are some random facts about the Taj Mahal that Spencer repeatedly informed me about while working on the puzzle.
- The Taj Mahal was built by the Emperor Shah Jahan of the Mughal empire for his (favorite) wife.
- It was reported that he wanted to build a black one for himself directly infront, but perhaps ran out of funding.
- It took over 20 years to build it.

People still eat that Stuff?

I was just walking through the library a minute ago and I saw a boy eating a Cheez Whiz sandwich. 2 slices of white bread, and one thick spread of Cheez Whiz. I immediately thought, "PEOPLE STILL EAT THAT STUFF?" Cheez Whiz is so mid-90's to me. I honestly have never had a Cheez Whiz sandwich, and I feel that the last time I even touched the stuff was with some celery sometime during my early elementary years. When I got back to my computer I had to do a quick google search on the stuff and discovered they have more than just the "Original Cheez Whiz" Other flavors include...

• Cheez Whiz Light
• Cheez Whiz Tex Mex
• Salsa Con Queso
• Cheez Whiz Italia

I can't say that these flavors are making me want to actually buy a jar of that stuff. I was thinking of other foods from the 90's-- lunchables and bagelbites came to mind (which I happened to eat just the other night) Also, does anyone remember when Mcdonalds did the McPizza? Little personal pan pizzas in little boxes? Maybe it was just a Canadian thing... Perhaps in a year or so when it's 2010 I'll have to throw a 90's party.
